Today is a day off, a chance to sightsee and wash clothing , which is really needed.
Leon was founded in 68AD by Roman soldiers as a military stronghold.
It later developed into the political and military center for the north-western Iberian peninsular until the 3rd century
The Cathedral de Leon is spectacular, and was started in the 13 th century, but due to financial issues and collapses of parts of it, it was not finished until the 19 th century. It is the most splendid gothic building on Spanish soil.
It is full of amazing art and artifacts, and well worth a visit. I toured the museum here as well as the cathedral.,glad we took a day off.
