Burgos to Hontana

5/27/19
Early start in the dark and it was cool which was a good Thing, as today we start climbing into the dreaded Meseta, the high desert.
This is a hard trail and on the right day, is extremely hot and challenging, but the Camino gods were kind to us today, it was sunny but a cool breeze stayed all day. It wasn’t how I remembered it, it was actually green this year..
Pretty much what today looked like, hard Roman road where it was say to roll an ankle, no shade, no water, and miles of monotony

Before climbing into the actual Meseta, we pass through Hornillas and it’s gothic parish church of San Roman, last stop for supplies
Hornillas town

It was good to walk in this evening
Finally, our first glimpse oh Hontanas

Kaz and Bill yackn it up with a cool beer and hot feet in the town square today
