najera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

5/23/19
Najera was originally occupied by the Visigoths until the Arabs conquered them., this became an important town in this region for trade through the centuries, but these days it’s pretty quiet
I am so sick of this blog app, it autocorrects all the friggin time and I can go back to change things, so at the end, I see it now says the town of Groningen, ignore that, we are in the tiny village of gronon
We had a fun impromptu party last night along the river in Najera, got to make friends with Gerhart from Austria. He walked with us today, and I think for awhile longer as we all get on well.
It was a 30 km day today but it was boring, not much to see, no shade and hard pack and hills all day.
I was glad to put the pack down, especially after giving my leg a hammering yesterday, it isn’t comfortable, but it will make it
Bill is struggling with a little tendinitis , so I’m hoping that clears up soon, Kaz is just pounding out the miles now she is more comfortable in her new shoes.. all in all, it’s tough but rewarding

We are starting to see lots of storks in this region,it is apparently very bad luck to remove their nests, so people don’t, if this was my chimney, we would have two storks with really bad smokers coughs, and hard boiled eggs
Two storks nesting season n the chimney

We decided to push on to the next village and get a head start and n tomorrow, as they predict rain, we also just felt it would be nicer than staying in the larger town like last night.,so Groningen is. Where we ended up
