Palace of the kings. -Palas du Rei

6/13/19
Chilly start at 6am as we walked back to the dam and across the bridge. From here it was a constant uphill for about 5 km(3miles).
Surprised, but we stumbled across these illuminated art pieces of pilgrims when we took a wrong turn at 6am

I walked with Kaz the whole day and we just chatted about family, life, and life’s journey, it was a great day as we were in no hurry, and there were lots of coffee and ice cream stops along the way.
We are stopping in Palas de Rei for the night which is a town of about 3000 people, and got its beginnings between 702 and 710, when the Visigothic King Witiza was ruler. From then on it’s always had a military influenced history, and is quoted in the “codex Calixtino” ,the book of St James, attributed to Pope Calixtus 2nd, as an obligatory stop on the Camino, so as to enable pilgrims to tackle the last stretch of this Jacobean route.
The early morning fog was freezing so I picked up my walking pace to get some heat into my body, this may have been the coldest morning yet.
Freezing fog this morning
This was an easy day really, and we are dialing it back to three short days so we get into Santiago on Sunday, apparently there is a pop concert in the spyware on Saturday, and we don’t want to finish this walk in the square with  that going on,,Iggy POP , and The Black Eyed Peas are not my idea of a good Camino music to walk in by.

Kaz made a new friend in the square at the end of today, then lost control of her wine glass at dinner, thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing
Every now and then, not often, but every now and then, you have to put them in a machine.  The walk then rinse attach doesnt always suffice, and you can hear the socks cry out loud, “ keep an eye on your partner”
