Villafranca to Orbaneja Riopico

another freezing day to start with and I’m wearing almost all my clothes, plus gloves and a cap to keep warm. Walking a fast pace, especially on the hills helps, but too hard and you start to sweat, then you freeze again.
As cold as it was, I was enjoying the fact that it wasn’t wet.

In 2007 they discovered the remains of the oldest human in Europe in this area

Yesterday, we crossed into the region of Leon, and looking at this sign of our path through, pointing to where we are and how far to go is a little daunting. Hey it’s just a walk

The walk was new, the terrain had changed to a softer rolling environment and with it,the energy.
I was struggling to get back where I was spiritually four years ago at this point, but I keep forgetting, this is the Camino

A non descriptive cross at the crest of the mountain, but for some......

Cardeñuela Riopico from the hill walking in

Cardefiueia Rippico, a tumble down church, but the bell, remains,
Ike the heart of an ancient ship. It makes you humble

In Atapuerca, they discovered the oldest human remains in Europe in Aztapuerca, and the remains date back to 1.2 million year old jaw band that are now the most important archaeological finds in the world.

A couple of young friends I met today

I stayed in this centuries old monastery last time through, a fantastic experience

The forest this morning was cold and almost hogwartish
